Alan Shearer: Manchester United duo Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw included in dream England XI for the Euros
Speaking to BBC Match of the Day (h/t Manchester Evening News), English legend Alan Shearer has selected Manchester United stars Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw for his dream England XI for the Euros.
Both players have been phenomenal for United this season and have contributed much to our progress. Curiously, however, Shearer did not list any other United star amongst his preferences.
Both Dean Henderson and Marcus Rashford were left out of Shearer’s line-up.

Shearer has picked Jordan Pickford in goal over Henderson. While Henderson has had his issues, Pickford has proven himself to be a liability at Everton.
We cannot speak for Shearer but we would not be too happy going into a major tournament if Pickford was our first choice goalkeeper.
The same can be said of Raheem Sterling being included over Marcus Rashford. While the Manchester City man has good ability, he has been far from his best this season.
Rashford, on the other hand, has lifted United on numerous times and also outdone Sterling this season. The same could be argued of Foden, who is admittedly a good player but makes the cut ahead of Rashford.

Earned by merit!
Maguire and Shaw’s inclusions make much sense. The United skipper is one of the finest defenders in the country while Shaw has reignited what looked to be a faltering career.
Gareth Southgate will have a number of talented players at his disposal this summer. However, how he will use them remains to be seen.
United take on Croatia in their opener on 13th June. The Croats previously defeated us in the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.
