Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot keen to stay put at AC Milan
According to Italian publication CalcioMercato (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United loanee Diogo Dalot has made up his mind regarding his future at the club and wants to stay put at AC Milan.
The 22-year-old is nearing the end of a season-long loan at AC Milan. While the spell cannot be termed as an unqualified success, he has definitely had his moments under the sun.
Dalot was one of the better performers in Milan’s 0-0 draw against Cagliari on Sunday. The Rossoneri missed a golden opportunity to strengthen their hopes of a top-four finish.
Largely a fringe player under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Dalot made the decision to go out on loan. He has enjoyed comparatively better luck at the San Siro, making 33 appearances and making five goal contributions. (h/t Transfermarkt)
With his spell in Italy nearing its end, the 22-year-old has made a decision regarding his future at Old Trafford. He is keen to stay put at Milan provided both clubs can reach an agreement.
According to the report, United will be willing to part ways with the youngster for around £13m. While it does represent a loss on what we paid for him, his performances for United have been nothing to write home about.
Capable of playing on either flank, Dalot’s versatility is a major boon for a side that needs reinforcements this summer. But with his contract running until 2023, Dalot still has two years left at United. A parting of the ways may be the best outcome for all parties.
