Romelu Lukaku among Manchester United rejects who showcase life away from Old Trafford is greener

According to the Daily Star, former Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku is among a number of the club’s former players who played a key role in Inter Milan’s recent success.

The Italians ended Juventus’ hold on the Italian top-flight, winning the club’s first Scudetto title in 11 years. With 21 goals and nine assists in 33 appearances, Lukaku has led the title charge from the front.

It represents a change in fortunes for the Belgian, who failed to win the Premier League with United.

Perhaps to rub it in, Lukaku posted a picture of him celebrating alongside former United stars who don the Nerazzuri’s colours. This includes the likes of Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian and Alexis Sanchez.

Of the players involved, only Young has won a Premier League title with United. The Englishman also went on to captain the Red Devils during his time at Old Trafford. Sanchez and Darmian never quite impressed in red.

Lukaku spent just two years at United, scoring 42 goals and assisting 13 more in just 96 games for the Red Devils. The 27-year-old eventually joined United in July 2017.

He has experienced more success at Inter though and is once again a man in demand. It is fair to say that Lukaku, given the criticism he received at United, has not missed the opportunity to send the message to his former employers.

Whether Lukaku’s message is a subtle dig at United is debatable. However, it is difficult to overlook the message that a photo containing only former United stars can send.

Hopefully, we will win the Europa League soon enough, en route to more trophies in the years to come.
