Marcel Desailly claims Solskjaer does not understand Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba

According to The Express, French hero Marcel Desailly has urged Paul Pogba to call it quits at Manchester United thanks to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He believes that the Norwegian does not understand the player, unlike Didier Deschamps, who has often gotten the best out of him for France.

The statement is partly true given Pogba’s performances for Les Bleus. The 28-year-old is a key player for the world champions and was a crucial factor in their success at the world cup in 2018.

“He needs a coach who understands him.”

Pogba has often failed to replicate his France form at club level

Desailly goes on to claim that United do not have the atmosphere to provide Pogba with what he needs to flourish at the top.

“Out of four elements to make Pogba the best… if only two of the elements are there it’s not enough for him to express himself.”

While there is little doubt regarding the Frenchman’s ability, he has more often than not been underwhelming in red. In fact, his good form since the turn of the year is the first sustained spell of solid performances he has put up for us.

“There is two out of four [at Manchester United] so probably he has to go somewhere else to gain an extra one to potentially be able to show that consistency and that talent that he has and shine in the football world.”

A summer saga unfolding?

Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola created a storm last December when he claimed that the player is looking for a way out of the club. With his contract set to expire in 2022, the Red Devils were put in an uncomfortable position regarding their record signing.

Pogba has a little over a year left on his current United deal. While there is hope that he will renew his stay at Old Trafford, he is yet to sign the papers.

A player once disillusioned with the direction United were taking, Pogba appears to have renewed faith in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s leadership. Whether this is enough to see him commit his future to the club remains to be seen.
