According to The Express, Manchester United are set to convene an emergency fans forum this Friday as fan-led protests against the Glazers continue to rise.

The Americans have never been particularly liked at Old Trafford. However, the recent backlash following their role in the European Super League appears to have broken the camel’s back.

United received severe criticism from their own fans on social media before being followed by action off the internet. Several fans stormed Carrington last week and even had a conversation with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

This was followed by mass protests outside Old Trafford on Saturday. Thousands of fans turned up to showcase their opposition to the Glazers. It reached a crescendo at Elland Road where a plane flew overhead emblazoning a banner against the owners.

With more protests set to be organized ahead of the clash against Liverpool, it would appear the owners are in for some sleepless nights.

Joel Glazer even went as far as to apologize, a rare statement from him in the aftermath of the ESL. However, that has done little to stem the anger. It would appear that we are closer than ever to having control of our club back.

Peace or war?

It remains unclear whether the Glazers will be involved in Friday’s meeting. However, several others could make an appearance instead. Ed Woodward’s insight would be intriguing, especially since he is set to leave the club.

Other prominent attendees include managing director Richard Arnold and chief operating officer, Colette Roche. According to the report, United will claim that the ESL is off the agenda for the time being, contrary to comments made by Florentino Perez.

Whether the relationship between the management and the fans can be repaired remains to be seen.
