Manchester United fans organize Anti-Glazer flypast at Elland Road

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United fans groups arranged for an aircraft to fly an anti-Glazer banner over Elland Road ahead of our match against Leeds United.

This comes just a day after thousands of fans assembled outside Old Trafford in opposition to the Americans’ ownership of the club. With more protests planned ahead of the visit of Liverpool next week, the Glazers will not be getting any respite anytime soon.

The anger from the fans comes after a tumultuous week when United, one of the founding members of the proposed European Super League came in for criticism from both within and outside for their actions.

This snowballed into anger against the owners who have held the club’s reins since 2005. It is fair to say that they have never really managed to gain the trust of the fans in their 16-year reign of the club so far.

A joint statement from a collection of fan groups reminded everyone that the Glazers’ poor running of the club far precedes the recent Super League fiasco.

Fans are simmering with rage against Glazers

Now or never!

“The message is very simple – You are not welcome in Manchester.”

Since their leveraged takeover in 2005, The Glazers have billed Manchester United over £2bn in interest payments, dividends, debt, directors fees, debt repayments and share sales. All money that might have been better invested elsewhere.

Having spent just £790m in 2005, The Glazers are set to make a nifty profit when they decide to sell. The fans, however, cannot wait for that day to come and believe it is now or never.

“Enough is enough. It is too late for apologies. Your time is up.”
