Manchester United could sign Patson Daka for just £17m
According to The Express, Manchester United could sign RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka for a bargain £17m in the summer.
It is no secret that the Red Devils are in need of a new striker. With Anthony Martial misfiring and Edinson Cavani’s future unclear, strengthening the position is more of a necessity than a luxury ahead of the next campaign.
United have bene heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland. The 20-year-old is one of the best young talents in world football and as of now looks to be on his way to be the next great striker in the game.
While United’s interest in securing the Norwegian would be a no-brainer, he will not come cheap. The Dortmund ace will cost an incredible £127.5million.
United are far from being a team who can become challengers with one signing. While bringing in Haaland is a dream come true, we cannot afford to exhaust our transfer budget on one player.
Austrian giants RB Salzburg may already have given United an alternative for Haaland. They replaced the Norwegian with youngster Patson Daka, who is now steadily emerging as a force to reckon with.
Posessing pace, power and energt, Daka is also a prolific scorer capable with either foot.
The next best thing?
Nicknamed the new Samuel Eto, Daka has scored thirty goals and eight assists in just 32 games this season. The 22-year-old has led the Salzburg line with such quality that Haaland has not been missed. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The Zambian’s performances have not gone unnoticed. The likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal are all aware of his exploits.
Moreover, the player’s pretty low asking price makes him a risk worth taking.

Daka grew up a Liverpool fan and it remains to be seen if the Merseysiders will have an advantage when it comes to his signing. The Reds already share a good relationship with the Austrians and have three former Salzburg players in their midst.
The likes of Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino all plied their trade for Salzburg before eventually ending up at Liverpool. Hopefully, the buck stops here and Daka will instead be on his way to the Theatre of Dreams.
