Transfer News: Manchester United can sign Patson Daka for just £17m

According to transfer news from SN (h/t Express), Patson Daka of RedBull Salzburg has caught the eye of Manchester United. Along with United, several other Premier League sides such as Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have shown interest in the Zambian forward. The news outlet has valued the player at a modest £17m.

Daka began his journey with Nchanga Rangers in his homeland before joining Kafue Celtic. He then spent half a season on loan with Liefering before joining RB Salzburg in the summer of 2017.

Though he initially struggled in the club’s senior set-up, he was a part of the side which won the league in 2017/18 and the following campaign. Last season, he led the team to the league title with 31 goals and also helped Salzburg lift the Austrian Cup title.

He has been very prolific this season as well, with 20 goals and 5 assists in just 18 games. The 22-year-old earlier spoke about how he wishes to emulate the likes of fellow African forwards Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang playing in the Premier League.

Manchester United are sorely lacking an out-and-out No.9. Martial is too inconsistent while Cavani is in his final years at the top level. Mason Greenwood looks promising but hasn’t featured much in that role.

A move for Daka could be smart from Manchester United given his price tag of £17m. However, that price tag means that interest in the player will be high and United will need to act fast.
