Boca Juniors put aside shirt numbers 7 and 9 for Manchester United star Edinson Cavani
According to Argentine publication Ole, Boca Juniors remains optimistic about landing Manchester Untied star Edinson Cavani in the summer.
The 34-year-old joined United on a one-year deal last summer. With his contract running down, the speculation regarding his future continues to do the rounds.
United held showdown talks with the player last week but it does not appear to have made his future any clearer.
Boca’s confidence could be attributed to the fact that they have already put aside two jersey numbers in anticipation of Cavani’s arrival.
The veteran striker could very well select between the No.7 and No.9 jersey. While the former is currently unassigned, the latter is used by Ramon Abila, currently on loan at Minnesota United.
According to the report, the 34-year-old has started watching Boca Juniors’ matches to get to know his potential future teammates better. With him yet to commit his future to United, speculation regarding his future will only rise.
What it means!
A move to Buenos Aires could see Cavani reunite with Manchester United star Marcos Rojo. The defender left the Red Devils earlier this year to join the Argentine giants. Both players have a good rapport and are still in touch.
Earlier reports stated that Cavani has an agreement in place with Boca vice-president Juan Roman Riquelme to join them this summer. Riquelme is keen to put together a Copa Libertadores winning side and as a South American, Cavani can appreciate the glory such success would bring.
