Reliable journalist reveals Man United are yet to bid for Malmo star

Manchester United yet to bid for Anel Ahmedhodzic

According to the reliable journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Manchester United is yet to make an offer for Malmo defender Anel Ahmedhodzic.

Born in Sweden, Ahmedhodzic began his career at Malmo FF before moving to England with Nottingham Forest in 2016. During his three years at the Tricky Trees, he made just one senior appearance. He eventually returned to Malmo in 2019.

United are in the market for a new centre back and it would appear that the 21-year-old is one of the players who has grabbed our attention. While not as highly rated as the likes of Jules Kounde or Ben White, Ahmedhodzic is a much cheaper option.

While the youngster stint at Nottingham was a failure, he enjoyed a fruitful 2019/20 season on loan at Hobro IK, where he gave an indication of his potential.

Anel has also attracted attention from Chelsea. However, the Blues too are yet to make a move to secure his services.

The club currently in the driving seat for the player is Serie A side, Atalanta. The Italians are currently in advanced negotiations and could land the player ahead of the summer transfer window.

While Anel is clearly an intriguing prospect, United are in need of a much more seasoned campaigner who is proven at the top level. The defence has looked too suspect at times and bringing in an unproven youngster is unlikely to reap immediate benefits.

Ahmedhodzic represented Sweden at the youth levels, even making his senior debut for the Scandinavians. But he shifted his allegiance to Bosnia last year and has since won two caps for them.
