Manchester United prepare €13m offer for promising Bosnian starlet Anel Ahmedhozic

Manchester United prepare €13m summer bid for Anel Ahmedhodzic

According to Jeunes Footeux, Manchester United are preparing a €13m bid for Bosnian international Anel Ahmedhodzic.

Born in Sweden, Ahmedhodzic began his career at Malmo FF before moving to England with Nottingham Forest in 2016. During his three years at the Tricky Trees, Anel made just one senior appearance. He eventually returned to Malmo in 2019.

The 21-year-old spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Hobro IK, where he gave an indication of his potential.

Ahmedhodzic has slowly yet steadily continued to develop into a dependable player at Malmo. The defender has started all but one game for the club this year and can be considered a regular for the Swedish giants. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The player has also been linked with a move to both Chelsea and Atalanta. He came close to signing with the Italians last January, but a deal did not materialize.

United are ready to take advantage of the situation and table an offer for the defender. However, Ahmedhodzic is far from the developed article and is more of a long-term project.

Not the need of the hour

While United could undertake the player’s development, they also need a defender who can perform right off the bat. As far as that demand is required, the Bosnian will fall short.

Ahmedhodzic represented Sweden at the youth levels, even making his senior debut for the Scandinavians. But he shifted his allegiance to Bosnia last year and has since won two caps for them.

As things stand, the player’s links to United are slowly but steadily gaining steam. But it is expected given the stature of the Red Devils.

Whether there is any truth in the links remains to be seen. For now, we will do well to take it with a pinch of salt.
