Pep Guardiola believes Manchester United can still win the Premier League title

According to Sky Sports, Pep Guardiola believes Manchester United could yet end this season as Premier League champions.

The Red Devils got the better of Guardiola’s Manchester City juggernaut with a 2-0 win at the Etihad last Sunday. The win snapped City’s 21-game winning streak and took United back to second place.

While it does narrow the gap to the top, City still holds a significant 11 points lead over us. With just 10 more matches to go, it might prove to be a bridge too far.

Guardiola believes Sunday’s result could boost United’s morale going into the final lap of the season. The Catalan believes nothing is impossible and is not taking his side’s lead for granted.

“Yeah, of course. When the option is open anything can happen in football.”

While City are firmly the favourites, they cannot afford to slip up. Given their pedigree in recent seasons, such a possibility is quite remote at best.

“For people like United, they can do it. We have 10 games left and we’ll have to win six or seven games to be champions mathematically.”

Solskjaer is however more guarded regarding his side’s chances

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, however, has taken a more guarded approach despite his side’s recent win. While he did admit that the result will give his side hope, he stopped himself from predicting a title tilt.

The Red Devils were top in January but have steadily fallen away since. Unless we build up consistency, impressive results count for little.

United are still a work in progress and have some ways to go before challenging for the title. While wins against the top sides are always welcome, it matters little when there is no consistency in our performances.
