Diogo Dalot yet to open talks with Manchester United over a permanent exit
According to Calcio Mercato (h/t Sportsmole), Carlos Goncalves, the agent of Manchester United star Diogo Dalot has revealed that the player is yet to hold talks with the club regarding a permanent exit.
The 21-year-old was one of Jose Mourinho’s final signings at Old Trafford. A combination of injuries and poor form have seen him struggle to make much of an impact at the club.
Currently on loan at AC Milan, Dalot has enjoyed a mixed bag of results that ranges from unimpressive to excellent. He has so far made 21 appearances for Rossoneri, scoring and assisting twice each. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Goncalves admitted that his client’s primary focus remains to give his best to Milan. His future will be cleared up once the time is ‘right’.
“Right now he’s a Milan player, on loan from Manchester United, but he wants to do well for his current club. If he was playing against another team, it wouldn’t have been different.”
Dalot has been offered a chance to play regular football at Milan, something he was hard pressed to come by at Old Trafford. The onus is now on him to ensure he performs to alert potential suitors to his talents.
“He has to train at his best and take advantage of every opportunity, the rest will take care of itself.”
Not the right time
Goncalves admitted that there is no contact with United regarding the contract. He has hinted that it is nothing out of the normal and will be back on the table once the focus shifts from the field.
“There’s no contact now, but it’s normal. The focus is all on the field. Later we will talk about it and we’ll see what happens.”
Dalot was on target in Milan’s 2-0 win over Hellas Verona at the weekend. The 21-year-old impressed at both ends of the pitch in what was an exciting performance. More of the same will do his fortunes no harm.
