Edinson Cavani plays down his father’s comments on Manchester United exit..or does he?
The father of Edinson Cavani dropped a bombshell when he revealed that his son is unhappy at Manchester United and could leave the club next summer. (h/t MEN)
The 34-year-old initially signed a one-year deal with United last summer. While there is the option of extending it by another year, negotiations are yet to take place.
According to The Guardian, Cavani has offset a part of his father’s comments by making a somewhat cryptic Instagram post. It displayed a picture of the player from our 3-3 draw with Everton captioned ‘Proud to wear this shirt’.
Cavani is surprisingly our best signing from last summer. While he is not a long-term option, he is still an excellent player to have for the short term.
The player’s father revealed that a return to South America has been on the player’s mind for the last couple of years. He believes the switch will help bring him closer to his family and that Cavani will turn up for the South American team next season.
He also went on to add that Cavani should be playing for a team that has a chance of winning trophies.
Not much said
Despite Cavani’s post on Instagram, it does little to put our mind at ease regarding his Manchester United future. While few doubt his admission of being proud at donning the United jersey, he has not explicitly revealed that wants to star.
A member of the player’s entourage revealed that talks have already taken place between Boca, his brother, and agent Walter Guglielmone.
Such a move would see him reunite with former United defender Marcos Rojo who made the switch earlier this year.

Regardless of whether Cavani stays or goes, Untied need to bring in a prolific striker they can depend on. The Uruguayan was always supposed to be a stop-gap and we should leave it at just that.
With or without him, Solskjaer and co. should be looking to secure the club’s future.
