Edinson Cavani decides to leave Manchester United at the end of the season
According to the Argentine outlet Ole, Manchester United star Edinson Cavani has decided to call time on his stint at the club this summer.
The 34-year-old joined the club last summer on a Bosman transfer after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired. He has been a stellar signing for the club, notching up a number of key goals.
The Uruguayan originally signed a one year deal with the club and it is set to expire this summer. Although United have the option to extend it by another year, they are yet to do so.
According to the report, Cavani has decided that the upcoming months are his last in European football. He appears to have made up his mind to link up with South American giants Boca Juniors.
Such a move will see him reunite with former United defender Marcos Rojo. The defender moved to South America earlier this year.
A member of Cavani’s entourage has revealed that the player will ply his trade with Boca come next season. Talks have already taken place between the Buenos Aires side, his brother, and agent Walter Guglielmone.
“In July he’s at Boca, that’s the idea.”
Money not an issue!
Cavani is willing to take a pay cut in order to make the move to Boca. He is keen to land a three-year contract that will pay him what he earns in United in a year.
The striker has also made aware the players he wants the club to procure so that they can challenge for the Copa Libertadores.
“Unless there’s a mistake, that’s it. He’s decided to return now. And he has decided that it’s Boca.”
