Manchester United duo Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek ruled out of Real Sociedad clash
According to the Express, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskajer has ruled out Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek from facing Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
The Red Devils play the first leg of their Round of 32 fixture against the Spaniards on Thursday. The game will be held at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, home of Italian champions Juventus.
“Donny and Edinson are injured, unfortunately, muscle injuries, so they won’t travel.”
Both Cavani and Van de Beek have suffered muscle injuries and will not be part of the travelling squad. The duo’s absence will come as a blow given that Paul Pogba has now been ruled out until March.
The club will also face a race against time regarding two other players. Both Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay are doubts for the game and may not feature if deemed unfit.
“Apart from that, we have a couple of doubtful ones, if they’ll be fit enough – Anthony [Martial] and Scott [McTominay].”
Youngsters Shola Shoretire and Amad Diallo are both part of the travelling squad. It remains to be seen if the spate of absences will see either of them make their first-team debuts.
Of all the players ruled out, Van de Beek can be considered expendable given his limited impact so far. The same cannot be said of Pogba or Cavani who have both been pivotal in recent months.
Hopefully Martial and McTominay will both recover in time to take on the Spaniards.

Sociedad are a tricky bunch who can cause us problems if we let them. The prospect of facing them sans a number of top stars is worrying.
Hopefully, we will get through the tie without any more injuries and bring back a lead to defend.
