Southampton remain keen on loaning Manchester United starlet Brandon Williams
According to Hampshire Live, Southampton are keeping tabs on Manchester United defender Brandon Williams.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakout season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season. He has, however, played a largely peripheral role this time around.
With opportunities at a premium, Williams is ready to leave the club in search of regular game time elsewhere. (h/t MEN)
With Luke Shaw and Alex Telles at the club, Williams is United’s third-choice left-back. This has seen Williams limited to just six appearances this season.
The youngster had also attracted attention from Southampton in the summer. However, a deal could not be agreed upon.
With Kyle Walker-Peters now injured, Ralph Hasenhuttl will be keen to revisit a deal for the United starlet. The Austrian admitted recently that he is assessing options as the January window draws to a close.
With opportunities limited, Williams risks having his development stalled unless he garners regular playing time. A loan deal that includes playing under Hasenhuttl could get him back on track.
The Austrian is an excellent tactician who knows how to get the best out of his players. Working under will could be an interesting experience for Williams.
Newcastle United were also keen on securing Williams this month. However, there has been a lack of progress on that front. (h/t MEN)

With just days left in the January transfer window, Southampton will need to get a move on if they are serious about Williams.
A promising player, Williams has shown that he still has kinks to iron out. He is unlikely to be able to do that from the bench. A move away will benefit all parties involved.
