Barcelona interested in Manchester United loanee Diogo Dalot

According to Italian publication Calciomercato (h/t Mirror), La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot, who is currently on loan at AC Milan.

The 21-year-old Portuguese joined the club in the summer of 2018 from FC Porto. However, he was never quite able to carve out a place for himself in the starting XI at Old Trafford.

Injuries coupled with the emergence of Aaron Wan-Bissaka as our first-choice right-back meant that Dalot never really got an extended run in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI.

Dalot joine AC Milan on loan last summer

Having struggled for game time at Manchester United, Dalot left the club to join AC Milan on loan last summer. Since moving to Italy, the Portuguese full-back has done fairly well, although he is not a regular at San Siro either.

Dalot, so far in his spell with the Rossoneri, has made 14 appearances in all competitions. He has scored one goal and set up two more. However, AC Milan chiefs are in no hurry to convert the Portuguese’s stay into a permanent one at the moment.

Barcelona are now making to most of this potential opening by making a swoop for Dalot. The Catalans are looking to bolster their right-back department as Sergino Dest hasn’t settled in very well, while Sergi Roberto is out injured.

The Barcelona chiefs believe that a deal for Dalot can be worked out by offering a transfer fee in the region of £10m.
