Solskjaer outlines Manchester United plans for January
Speaking before their match against Burnley (h/t Mirror), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explained that Manchester United would consider spending in January if a long-term transfer target becomes available.
United sealed a transfer for youngster Amad Diallo from Atalanta earlier this week. The 18-year-old joined a United attack already filled with options.
However, United have had an interest in some big names in recent times. The club have been linked with a move for Jack Grealish while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be keeping tabs on Jadon Sancho and Erling Braut Haaland. (h/t Mirror)
The Norwegian says that he is happy with the squad at the moment and United’s summer business. However, he points out that it would be ‘another scenario’ if a long-term target becomes available in January.
“If something comes up that you think about in the long term, it’s a long-term target anyway, that’s another scenario.”
No urgent need of signings
Solskjaer recognizes that teams are not willing to let go of their players easily in January, and hence transfers could be difficult. However, he adds that United are open to offloading a few players themselves.
“There might be two or three going out because they deserve to play more football for their own good and their own career.”
United have a pretty good squad at the moment with no real fitness issues for anyone except Phil Jones. The chemistry between the players has seen United rise to 2nd in the league table with a chance going first tonight.

Hence, it makes sense that Solskjaer does not want to disturb that unnecessarily. As for outgoings, the team could do with trimming out fringe players on either a loan or a permanent deal.
