Amad Diallo has been assigned shirt number at Manchester United
A report by Mirror states that new summer signing Amad Diallo will wear the No.19 shirt at Manchester United.
Earlier, it was confirmed that the winger had finally joined the Red Devils from Atalanta. United agreed on a transfer fee which could rise up to £37million.
As per the deal, Diallo had to spend half of this season with Atalanta. And now, the 18-year-old has finally joined the first-team.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that the club has followed Diallo for a few years and that he is happy to have the Ivorian in his squad.
“As a club, we have followed Amad for a number of years and having watched him myself, I believe he is one of the most exciting young prospects in the game.”
Diallo can play anywhere across the frontline but is a right-winger by trade. United lack a natural right-winger and he could be the long-term solution the club needs.
One for the future
Even in the short term, he can provide competition to the players in the squad. Moreover, appearances in the FA Cup this season are also a possibility.
However, he still very young and could use a bit of adjustment to English football before being handed a start. He only has 4 top-tier appearances to his name so far.
Diallo would be hoping to carry on the legacy of the former United players who wore the No.19 shirt. The last player to wear the shirt was Marcus Rashford.
