Manchester United and PSG to battle it out for Romain Faivre
According to French publication Le10Sport (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United are keeping tabs on Brest midfielder Romain Faivre.
The 22-year-old joined Brest from AS Monaco last summer in a deal worth £450,000. The midfielder has made a mockery of the price as he continues to grab attention with his performances.
Faivre has made 19 appearances for the Pirates this season. During this time, he has garnered four goals and three assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
United are not the only club with an interest in the player. French champions PSG are also keeping tabs on the midfielder’s progress.
Now managed by Mauricio Pochettino, the Parisians got a close look at Faivre last weekend. The youngster played all 90 minutes in the match against PSG but could do little to prevent a 3-0 loss.
A notable factor has been the versatility shown by Faivre this season. He has been deployed in a variety of roles for Brest. He has played in five different positions so far, with most of his success coming on the left flank.
The Frenchman’s performances saw Brest extend his contract until 2025. Armed with that knowledge, they can now go into any potential negotiation at an advantage.
United are in the market for a new midfielder. However, following Declan Rice’s admission that he does not want to join United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need to look elsewhere.
Jack Grealish is another midfielder linked with us. Faivre can be potentially considered as a cheaper alternative to the Villa skipper. Whether Untied will consider it the same way remains to be seen.
