Manchester United remain interested in signing Jack Grealish
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are still keen on signing Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish after having pulled the plug on a deal to capture him in the summer.
The 25-year-old has been one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League over the past year. Grealish played a key role in helping Aston Villa stave off relegation last season and has been the driving force behind their strong start this term.
Grealish’s impact last term had seen Manchester United make him a top transfer target in the summer transfer window. However, a move failed to materialise as the Red Devils refused to pay more than £65m and, in the end, pulled out of the deal. (h/t Daily Mail)
While United may have decided to call off a move for Grealish in the summer window, it is now being claimed that they still remain very much interested in the England international.
However, Aston Villa will certainly not lower their £100m demands for their captain having seen the impact he has made this term. Furthermore, he also signed a new five-year deal at the club, which only puts them in a stronger negotiating position.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about the club’s interest in Solskjaer ahead of Friday night’s game against Aston Villa. The Norwegian, though, remained tight-lipped on the matter.
“I don’t want to say too much about other teams’ players but of course he’s a player we know we have to look for. He’s a player for Aston Villa and England who has only improved.”
