Manchester United identify Paulo Dybala as Edinson Cavani replacement
Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast (h/t Express), journalist Ian McGarry has claimed that Manchester United have identified Juventus star Paulo Dybala as a long-term replacement for Edinson Cavani.
The 33-year-old arrived at Manchester United on a free transfer in the last summer. And while he has been impressive in his short time at the club, realistically the Uruguayan cannot be a long-term solution for the Red Devils, given his age.
To that end, the club are looking at fellow South American Paulo Dybala as a potential long-term replacement for the former PSG man.
Dybala has been with Juventus since 2015, having signed from Palermo and has grown into one of the most coveted forwards across Europe. However, the Argentine has found game-time hard to come by this season under new manager Andrea Pirlo.
Furthermore, Dybala’s contract with the Bianconeri expires in the summer of 2022. McGarry has claimed that Juventus have offered a new deal to the 27-year-old and are set to have discussions with his agent soon.
“He has been offered €11.5million gross for an extension of three years to his current deal.”
But, if Dybala were to reject the offer, Manchester United will look to pounce on the chance to sign him up.
“We know there have been conversations, negotiations, with Manchester United and Spurs over the last year to 18 months regarding a potential transfer of Dybala to the Premier League.
“Those discussions will certainly be continued should he turn down this final offer from Juve to extend his contract. It’s also our understanding that United see Dybala as a long-term solution to what has been a short-term solution in Edinson Cavani, in terms of his age.

McGarry does go on to insist that any discussions that may be held between Manchester United and Dybala’s agent would be for a summer transfer and not a move in January.
Since joining Juventus, the 27-year-old has scored 97 goals. Entering his peak years, the Argentine can be a great addition to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s roster.
