Manchester United to face off against Liverpool and Manchester City for Jack Grealish
According to The Mirror, Manchester United will have to stave off competition from Liverpool and Manchester City for Jack Grealish.
The Aston Villa skipper has been one of the Premier League’s best midfielders this season. He has been central to Villa’s excellent start to the current season.
Grealish penned a five-year deal at Villa last September. While this gives Villa enough leeway in contract negotiations, it has done little to stave off interest from other clubs.
Grealish averages an incredible one goal contribution per game in the Premier League this season. So far, he has managed five goals and seven assists in 12 top-flight appearances. (h/t The Sun)
United were heavily linked with Grealish last summer. However, a deal could not be agreed upon and he stayed put at Villa.
While we had a free run at the midfielder in the summer, the upcoming windows appear to present a bigger challenge.
Of our two rivals, Manchester City are a bigger threat compared to Liverpool. The Merseysiders have distanced themselves from speculation that may have been fuelled by rumours of Mohammad Salah being unhappy. (h/t The Mirror)
Jurgen Klopp’s side have also been linked with a move for Renato Sanches. It could indicate that their focus lies elsewhere.
City meanwhile appears to be in for the player. Not only can they also afford to give him a lucrative contract but also give him a chance to compete at the highest level.

The prospect of Villa selling their skipper in January is remote. More so, given his impressive performances, they could demand more than the £80million they sought last summer.
Grealish has shown himself to be worth the hype and has emerged as a consistent performer. Whether we manage to get him remains to be seen.
