Uli Hoeness believes Thiago may have agreed on personal terms with Manchester Untied

According to former Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness (h/t The Independent), Thiago Alcantara may have agreed to personal terms with Manchester United.

The 29-year-old played a key role as the Bavarian giants secured their sixth European Cup last season. With just a year left on his contract, he looks set to move on this summer.

Bayern have placed a price tag of £28million on Thiago and are waiting for suitors to make their bid. Arch-rivals Liverpool appear to be in the driver’s seat in the race for the Spanish international.

“Both Liverpool and Manchester United did not come to us with an offer for Thiago.”

Hoeness confirmed that United have not made an offer for the player. He believes suitors are looking to hold off until the last moment to force Bayern to sell Thiago for a cheaper price.

He believes it is now up to Bayern to decide how they want to take part in the standoff. They could hold firm and keep the player. However, that could lead to him leaving the club for free.

By adding Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek in successive windows, the United midfield looks formidable on paper. However, there is a lack of quality when it comes to back-up options.

Adding Thiago to the mix will give us the necessary depth as we return to the Champions League once again.

Seven years on, we have been presented with another opportunity. Whether we take it or not remains to be seen.
