Real Madrid confident Manchester United will submit offer for Gareth Bale
According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Star), La Liga champions Real Madrid are expecting Manchester United to make an approach to sign out-of-favour star Gareth Bale this summer.
The 31-year-old has been with Real Madrid since 2013, having joined from Tottenham Hotspur. The Welsh international has enjoyed a lot of success at the Santiago Bernabeu but has never been able to endear himself to the fans.
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane also doesn’t favour the Welsh wing-wizard and froze him out of the squad last season, with Bale hardly featuring for Los Blancos, especially in the latter parts of the campaign.
The Real Madrid boss is ready to cut ties with Bale this summer, but there haven’t been a lot of suitors owing to his mammoth £14m-a-year wages. With still two years on his contract, Madrid will have to pay Bale £28m just to sit on the bench, if they are not able to find a buyer. (h/t Daily Star)
However, the Merengues remain confident that Manchester United will make an approach for the former Tottenham Hotspur ace. (h/t Daily Star)
The Red Devils are in the market for a new winger this summer, with Jadon Sancho the club’s preferred target. However, Borussia Dortmund are unwilling to reduce their asking price of £108m for the Englishman, which United are reluctant to meet. (h/t Daily Star)
Should the club be unable to make a breakthrough on the Sancho front, there is a strong possibility that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer & co. might turn their attention to Bale. (h/t Daily Star)

Bale would only be a short-term solution for the club at best. But given Sancho’s price tag, Bale would represent a cheaper alternative. In addition, he is a proven quantity in the Premier League and could prove to be a handy signing due to his experience and winning mentality.
