Manchester United are set to be in a strong position in the transfer market

According to the Express, football finance expert, Kieran Maguire believes Manchester United will be in a strong position to take advantage of the upcoming transfer market.

This is because of the commercial assets, success on the pitch, and wealthy owners. He has also attributed the same to rivals Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.

With the season currently suspended, there is uncertainty over when the season, and consequently the transfer window, will begin. In spite of that, clubs have begun preparations for their transfer activity in order to get a head start on their rivals.

In spite of revenue streams being affected, some clubs will be better placed than others to behave proactively in the market.

The big fish

Maguire, who is from the University of Liverpool, believes that the advantage of some Premier League teams is due to their recent success and investments.

The Red Devils may not have had much success on the pitch in recent years. They are still set to be in a good spot due to their strong balance sheets.

“So if big clubs like United have the cash – and they do – are there other clubs have to sell even if they don’t want to? Yes, there are.”

Maguire has predicted that it will be a buyers market where a club with a strong balance sheet can make waves. This can force other cash-starved clubs to sell players even if they do not want to.

The report also goes on to add that Arsenal will be the biggest losers among the top teams. This is due to the issues regarding the wages and a lack of investment by the owners.
