Gary Neville believes that singing this one player was a mistake for Manchester United and Erik Ten Hag

Gary Neville has never been afraid to call Manchester United out for their shortcomings. His latest grievance with the club and Erik Ten Hag is one that a lot of fans will agree with.

He believes that signing Antony was a mistake by the Red Devils. The Old Trafford management doled out £86m to sign the former Ajax man last summer. Oh and what a disappointment he has been for the team.

He was supposed to be the primary signing for Ten Hag who was very high on the player’s skills. However, those skills have failed to accompany him to his new home at Manchester United.

Antony has made 65 appearances for Manchester United and has only recorded eight goals and three assists for the team (Transfermarkt). These numbers are just not acceptable for someone who cost £86m.

Moreover, this season when Manchester United have needed him the most, he has been nowhere to be found. Throughout 21 games during the current campaign, Antony has yet to score a goal or record an assist for the team (Transfermarkt).

If these were his first 21 games for the team he would’ve gotten a pass. But, the Brazilian has had plenty of time to fit in and there are no excuses for his abysmal performance.
