Manchester United want FC Porto’s Mehdi Taremi as a back-up for Rasmus Hojlund
According to the Italian outlet Interlive.it, Manchester United could be interested in signing FC Porto’s striker Mehdi Taremi to act as a backup striker. We believe it can be a wise move since Taremi is a goal poacher and he can actively play a crucial role in the squad when Rasmus Hojlund is absent or fails to score a goal.
According to the above-mentioned source, United might be considering a £10 million offer for Taremi, which would entail paying the 31-year-old £3.9 million a year. It also seems that Erik ten Hag thinks that Taremi is a good fit even though only scored three goals in 15 games this season at Porto.
However, in 162 games, the Iran international has scored 83 goals and provided 52 assists for Porto. With 72 caps for Iran, he has also scored 39 goals.
Rasmus Hojlund increased his United goal total to five on Thursday in the 4-3 loss to FC Copenhagen with a brace in the first half. However, none of Ten Hag’s forwards have scored more than once thus far in the season, which has led to nine losses in the first 17 games.
Although Anthony Martial is a different striker option, he has mostly performed poorly both off the bench and in his few starts this season. Due to this, Hojlund, who is 20 years old, is bearing nearly all of the goal-scoring load in his first season in English football.
But given Anthony Martial’s injury history over the past 12 months, it’s clear that we could use another striker on our team.

Taremi surely is a good option. Even though the English Premier League is a difficult league for the player to break into, it would seem sensible to have someone like the Iranian on the bench.
