Manchester United are keeping an eye on Real Sociedad striker Umar Sadiq
Manchester United are keeping an eye on Real Sociedad striker Umar Sadiq, according to reports from Fichajes.
Sadiq has recently returned from a cruciate ligament rupture injury that kept him out throughout last season. Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil has used the 26-year-old as a substitute so far this season.
Sociedad signed the Nigerian international from Almeria during the summer of 2022. The 26-year-old had an impressive career at Almeria where he earned a reputation for his productivity in front of the goal.
Sadiq made 84 appearances for Almeria while contributing 43 goals and 19 assists for the Spanish club in all competitions.
The Nigerian is an imposing figure on the pitch, standing at 1.91 metres in height and with a bulky physique. Sadiq is capable of physically dominating most of the defenders in Europe during any one-on-one duel.
The 26-year-old earned renown for his powerful shooting ability, demonstrating technique and composure that served him well during his time at Almeria. Sadiq is an intelligent off-the-ball runner and exploits spaces as he is deceptively mobile for his size.
The Nigerian international is also very creative on the ball as his best attacking play comes from the ground.
The Red Devils signed Rasmus Hojlund from Serie A side Atalanta during the summer transfer window. The Danish international has mesmerised the Old Trafford fans with his performances so far this season.
However, United can go for another striker to increase the depth of the squad and put some pressure off Hojlund. The Red Devils need more goal-scoring threats as they found this season that they cannot rely on Marcus Rashford. Anthony Martial, on the other hand, has also struggled with inconsistencies and injuries throughout his tenure at the club.

We think that if United sign Sadiq, they will have a player vastly different than what the club already has at its disposal. The Nigerian international has just reached the peak year of his career with bags of potential and desire.
While he might be an out-of-the-box recruit, Sadiq could very well surprise quite a few fans with his ability on the ball.
