Manchester United forced to change the stance on the future of Donny van de Beek

Manchester United have attempted to offload Donny van de Beek on a permanent basis but they’re now considering a loan deal, as reported by Mirror. The 26-year-old is not part of the United manager Erik ten Hag’s plan.

The 26-year-old joined United from Ajax on 30th August 2020 for a fee worth £40m. United signed the Dutchment under the regime of former manager Ole Gunner Solskjær.

Van de Beek has endured a lot of struggles to impress any manager who came after him. Solskjær, Ralf Rangnick and now Ten Hag have all overlooked him for other midfield options for United.

Ten Hag’s midfield options currently are Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay, and new signings Mason Mount, and Sofyan Amrabat. All of these players are above Van De Beek in the pecking order.

The Dutch midfielder has appeared in 60 games so far for the Red Devils. He scored two goals and provided two assists within those appearances.

Premier League club Everton signed Van de Beek on 31st January 2022 in a loan deal until the end of the 2021-22 season. Van de Beek made seven appearances for Everton with a single goal to his name during that loan spell.

The Red Devils faced financial problems due to which the club had to change their transfer tactics to get the players Ten Hag required. United signed Amrabat and Sergio Reguilón signed in a season-long loan deal.

United was looking to sell Van de Beek permanently due to financial reasons with Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe interested in the player’s service. The Red Devils are now considering a loan deal given that they found it hard to get a permanent deal done for the Dutch midfielder.

Van de Beek’s signing brought excitement among many United faithful but unfortunately, he couldn’t live up to the potential he showed at Ajax. At 26 years of age, he is now in the peak years of his career and will want to play regular football right now.

Van de Beek deserves to resurrect his stalled career and hopefully United will get a mutually beneficial deal that can serve both the club and the Dutch midfielder.
