Sofyan Amrabat names Manchester United players he admired while growing up
Manchester United’s new signing Sofyan Amrabat was asked about the United players he admired when growing up and he had plenty of names in his mind.
The Red Devils signed the 27-year-old combative midfielder from Fiorentina on a season-long loan. The deal possesses a buy-out clause to sign the midfielder permanently.
Speaking after joining the Old Trafford outfit (h/t Metro), the Moroccan international said:
“I think United had so many fantastic players and young midfielders. So, in general, I look more to the midfielders like Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, David Beckham. But there were so many big players. Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Louis Saha, Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo. I can go on for one hour to say names.”
Amrabat made 107 appearances for Florentina while scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist. He was one of the best performers during the 2022 World Cup as his country, Morocco, finished in 4th place.
Amrabat has a fantastic ball-winning ability. The Moroccan plays with high energy and stamina to cover large parts of the field. His intense teamwork helps him put pressure on the opponent and retain possession.
Amrabat is also a very accurate passer of the ball. His ability to shield the ball and his wide passing range helps him circulate possession efficiently.
United are currently in 11th position on the English Premier League table. Midfield was one of the vulnerable areas for the team. Amrabat is a welcome addition to the midfield that sorely lacked the energy and skillsets that he possesses.
The Red Devils fans will be happy to know that their new player is somewhat of a fan himself. The new signing is entering the prime years of his career, having all the qualities required to be a success at Old Trafford.
