Erik ten Hag disappointed with Manchester United attack against Wolves

Manchester United manager Erik ten hag was disappointed with the attacking performance of the club against Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves).

The Red Devils welcomed the Molineux Stadium side home on 14 August in the first fixture for both the teams in the 2023/24 term. It was an end-to-end fixture, with both sides trying to find the back of the net.

In the end, the Old Trafford side managed to come away with a 1-0 victory. However, speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag was not too pleased with how the forward line executed themselves.

“I think we could have scored five or six turnovers and there were overloads. But I think the frontline was not in the best form today and we could have made more out of it from the overload situations.”

Marcus Rashford started as the focal point up front for United. The English national had a couple of opportunities in front of goal. Unfortunately, the 25-year-old was unable to make te most of them.

On the right wing, Antony played a pivotal role in the attack. While the Brazil international got on the ball a lot, his decision-making left a lot to be desired in the final third.

Similarly, Alejandro Garnacho, who played on the left-hand side of the attack, was unable to make an impact. The Argentina international looked sloppy with the ball at his feet.

Jadon Sancho and Facundo Pellistri also came on the pitch. The England international looked encouraging while the Uruguayan youngster ran about and brought energy up front with his substitution.

In the end, it was Raphael Varane who gave us the lead in the 76th minute. The French national got on the end of a cross from Aaron Wan-Bissaka and managed to beat Jose Sa in between the sticks.

Anthony Martial stayed on the bench and Rasmus Hojlund is on the sidelines for now. Hopefully, when the two return to full match fitness, Ten Hag will be able to get the best out of our forwards.
