Manchester United are said to have reached personal term agreement with Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat
As per Italian outlet La Nazione (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United have reached an agreement over personal terms to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
The report also reveals that the Serie A club would demand something in the region of €30m if they are to sell the Moroccan international.
It is well-known that many clubs, including United, were impressed by what they saw from Amrabat in the World Cup.
The midfielder has worked with the Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag before when they were at Dutch side Utrecht between 2015 and 2017. The former’s contract with Fiorentina expires next summer, with an option for an extra year (Transfermarkt).
So, either the Italian side sell him now for the price range they are mentioning or lose him for free in 12 months’ time. The other solution would be triggering a one-year extension in his contract.
We wonder why United are interested in Amrabat. Despite signing Mason Mount to bolster the central and attacking midfield, they are still slightly light on the defensive midfield front. Casemiro is there, but the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay aren’t good enough. It would not be surprising if the latter two leave the club this summer as well.
Amrabat, on the other hand, can play in defensive midfield or a double-pivot. He is excellent on the ball, works hard off it, keeps the passes simple and is physically strong in tackling and aerial duels.

While the price can be negotiated, if United have actually agreed on personal terms with the Moroccan, it is good news for the club. He would be a valuable addition to the squad ahead of next season when Champions League football returns to Old Trafford.
