AC Milan join Manchester United in race for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat
Manchester United have been joined by AC Milan in the race to acquire the services of Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat this summer, according to Tuttomercato via Football Italia (h/t The Sun).
The Serie A giants are interested in signing the Morocco international in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, the Rossoneri have already started working on a deal for the midfielder as they expect him to leave the Viola.
As things stand, the San Siro side have not tabled an official offer, but they are expected to do so in the coming days. The Florence-based club want £26 million for the 26-year-old, whose contract is set to expire at the end of next season.
Amrabat has caught a lot of people’s attention in the past year. After impressing in the 2022 World Cup, Barcelona were looking to take him to Catalunya in January.
This summer, Atletico Madrid, along with the Red Devils, have the Moroccan on their radar. A number of teams in the Premier League are also keeping an eye on his situation.
At Milan, they need to add reinforcements to the middle of the park after agreeing to the sale of Sandro Tonali. The Italy international is expected to be a Newcastle United player soon.
As for United, we have Casemiro in our ranks. The Brazilian added much-needed quality to our engine room in the previous campaign, having signed from Real Madrid last summer.
Unfortunately, the Red Devils have relied heavily on the 31-year-old being the enforcer in Erik ten Hag’s midfield over the last few months. Without him, the Old Trafford side found it hard to get positive results in the 2022/23 term. Scott McTominay and Fred do not have the quality to provide adequate cover.

Therefore, we could evidently do with someone like Amrabat in our ranks. However, getting ahead of Casemiro in the pecking order is a challenging task for anyone. Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see the 26-year-old opt to sign for Milan and get straight into the starting lineup.
