Manchester United will be in a race with Liverpool and Chelsea for Victor Osimhen

As per RMC Sport journalist Sacha Tavolieri (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are set to enter a three-way battle with Liverpool and Chelsea for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The report also reveals the Nigeria international will be on the move this summer. It is up to the Premier League clubs to make the best offer and sign him.

United boss Erik ten Hag is interested in getting Osimhen as he aims to fill the striker void in the squad. Having withdrawn from the transfer of Harry Kane, the Red Devils must sign an elite number nine who can score a bucket load of goals.

Osimhen played a key role in Napoli lifting the Scudetto after an eternity. His partnership with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia terrorised many defenders around Italy and Europe.

The Nigerian international scored 31 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions. He is a monster up front who has the pace to make runs in behind, is physically and aerially strong, can finish off the chances at a good rate, and is good at linking the play up.

Going back to the original report, it is slightly baffling that Liverpool are in the race for a striker having spent a lot in that department in the last 18 months.

For Chelsea, it is understandable why they are chasing a number nine. They are close to completing the deal for Nicolas Jackson, but the Senegal youngster is nowhere near what Osimhen is right now.

One thing is clear: the Napoli striker won’t come for a nominal price. Hence, if Ten Hag and United want to sign him, a large chunk of the potential transfer budget needs to be spent on him. It might also be worth it though given the amount of goals he can score in this team.
