Bayern Munich want £22 million for on-loan Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich want around £22 million to part ways with on-loan Manchester United star Marcel Sabitzer, according to Sky Germany (h/t Manchester Evening News).
In the previous transfer window, the Red Devils acquired the Austria international’s services on a temporary move until the end of the season. Now, a permanent move looks to be on the table, with the Bavarians setting their price tag.
The 29-year-old has impressed Erik ten Hag with his performances in the current campaign. Unfortunately, the midfielder suffered a season-ending injury in the build-up to the 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, with talks underway regarding his future.
Sabitzer initially made a name for himself at Red Bull Salzburg before moving to sister club RB Leipzig. At Die Roten Bullen, the Austrian thrived for many years.
Subsequently, in the summer of 2021, Bayern signed him. However, the 29-year-old has been unable to make a place for himself in the Bundesliga giants’ starting lineup.
Thomas Tuchel already has the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Ryan Gravenberch at his disposal. The Allianz Arena side have also secured the signature of Konrad Laimer ahead of next summer.
As for Erik ten Hag, he has trusted Casemiro and Christian Eriksen for most of the season. The Brazilian and Denmark international have been the gaffer’s preferred option in the midfield pivot.
However, Sabitzer came in handy during the former Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur playmaker’s time on the sidelines. In 18 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils, the Austrian has scored three goals and has provided one assist.
