Manchester United are ‘ready to pay’ the €10 million release clause of Dinamo Zagreb shot-stopper Dominik Livakovic, according to Croatian outlet Jutarnji (h/t Manchester Evening News).

Erik ten Hag is likely to be in the market for a new shot-stopper next summer. To that end, the Red Devils are interested in acquiring the services of the 28-year-old to add depth to the goalkeeping department.

David de Gea’s current contract with the Old Trafford side is set to expire at the end of the season. However, it looks like the Spaniard will extend his stay at the Manchester-based club with a new short-term deal.

On the other hand, Jack Butland is set to leave United at the end of the campaign. The English national signed for the Red Devils on loan from Crystal Palace in the previous transfer window.

Livakovic has been at Zagreb for some time now. The Croatia international has won multiple league titles at the Maksimir Stadium side over the years.

The 28-year-old caught a lot of people’s attention with his performances in the 2022 World Cup. The shot-stopper made some brilliant saves as Zlatko Dalic’s team won the third-placed medal in Qatar.

De Gea has been Ten Hag’s first choice at United. While the 32-year-old has been impressive, on a few occasions, the former Atletico Madrid star’s distribution has let the team down.

However, the gaffer does not have the luxury of options at his disposal in the goalkeeping department. Tom Heaton and Butland are the ones backing up the Spaniard. The two English nationals are evidently not good enough to play week in, week out for the Red Devils.

Therefore, we could seemingly do with another established shot-stopper in our ranks. Livakovic has showcased his talents at the highest level. However, it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will be able to get a hold of the Croatian’s signature.
