Manchester United ‘fear’ lengthy injury spell on sidelines for Marcus Rashford
Manchester United ‘fear’ that the injury Marcus Rashford suffered against Everton will keep him on the sidelines for a considerable period, according to The Sun (h/t Metro).
The 25-year-old started in the 2-0 win over the Toffees at Goodison Park on Saturday (8 April). Over the course of the match, the forward put in a decent display setting up the second goal for Anthony Martial in the 71st minute.
However, with 10 minutes remaining in the fixture, the England international was seen holding his groin after stretching to control a pass. Subsequently, in the 81st minute, the winger was replaced by Wout Weghorst.
Rashford is expected to miss Sevilla’s visit to Old Trafford on Thursday (13 April). However, there is panic regarding the forward’s knock keeping him out of action for a number of weeks.
The England international’s absence is a big blow to United. He has been our only consistent goal-scorer in the current campaign. The 25-year-old has shouldered the burden of the Red Devils’ attack since Erik ten Hag’s arrival.
In the summer of 2022, the Old Trafford side signed Anthony. While the 23-year-old has put in some encouraging displays, the Brazilian is still finding his feet in Manchester.
As for our other forwards, Jadon Sancho has been in and out of the team under the Dutch manager. On the other hand, Martial has been injury prone. Although, the French national has returned to action in the last few matches.
United signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley in January. But the 30-year-old leaves a lot to be desired in front of goal. As a result, Ten Hag has had to rely on Rashford to find the back of the net.
