Manchester United have ‘expressed an interest’ in Arsenal target Ollie Watkins, who plays for Premier League rivals Aston Villa, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News).

In the upcoming transfer window, the Red Devils are looking to bolster their front line with a quality striker. To that end, the Old Trafford side have identified Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

However, the Manchester-based club also have a list of players who are a level below, which includes prospects like Randal Kolo Muani and Rasmus Hojlund. The Lions’ frontman is also one of the players we have an eye on.

Apart from United and Mikel Arteata’s team, Liverpool also have the 27-year-old on their radar. The England international has shone for the Villans in the last few seasons.

Arsenal have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah in their ranks. In the Brazil international’s absence, the Gunners seemingly lacked a bit of quality up front. However, they have managed to stay at the top of the league table.

As for United, we have had to rely on Wout Weghorst as our number nine in the last few months. The Holland international was signed on loan in January to add cover for Anthony Martial.

The former AS Monaco star has been on the sidelines for most of the campaign due to fitness issues. As a result, the Burnley loanee has been getting regular minutes at the Manchester-based club.

However, the 30-year-old has left a lot to be desired in front of the goal. He is set to return to the Clarets at the end of the season. Therefore, we could seemingly do with more than one addition to the number nine position.

While Watkins is evidently not world-class, the 27-year-old is in his prime physical years. As a second-choice striker, United could seemingly do with someone of the England international’s talent.
