Roy Keane backs Ollie Watkins to play for the likes of Manchester United
Ollie Watkins has been in phenomenal touch this season, leading Unai Emery’s Aston Villa to fourth place in the Premier League this season.
The 28-year-old has been loving life at Villa Park while enjoying his most successful season in the Premier League, boasting a tally of 16 goals and 10 assists in 28 appearances.
The England international has attracted plaudits for his impressive displays this season as former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has tipped the former Brentford striker to make the move to a “big club”.
His form has seen him backed by the likes of Thierry Henry in a conversation for a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad with EURO 2024 just around the corner and he has been tipped to partner Harry Kane in England’s roster.
Roy Keane has acclaim accolades on Aston Villa’s striker and has spoken about how his quality should be used for some of England’s most elite clubs such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool.
“I think he could play for one of the top teams,”
said the Irishman as per report by Birmingham Mail.
“I know Aston Villa are a big club, but I mean the likes of Man United, Liverpool, and obviously Man City. That’s a compliment to him, not something against Aston Villa – I just think he’s got the capability, he looks so sharp, great movement to him and he’s as deadly as any striker in the Premier League.”
Ollie Watkins was in fine touch with finding the back of the net in Villa’s last four games including braces against Fulham and Luton Town while Emery’s side fight to qualify for the Champions League. However, that came to an end as Villa lost 4-0 to Tottenham at the weekend.
