Manchester United target Mohammed Kudus “happy” to extend Ajax stay
Mohammed Kudus, who plays for Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam, is “happy” and willing to extend his stay in Amsterdam amidst interest from Manchester United.
The Ghana international has been in fine form in the current campaign for De Godenzonen. As a result, Erik ten Hag is seemingly looking for a reunion with the 22-year-old. The Dutch manager is confident in the youngster’s ability to thrive in the Premier League.
However, speaking to De Telegraaf (h/t Manchester Evening News), Kudus revealed his delight in being at Ajax. The forward has no qualms about renewing his current contract with the Eredivisie giants.
“I am very happy at Ajax at the moment, but I will be even happier if we win the double. Why wouldn’t I want to renew [my contract]?”
The Ghanaian was signed by the Amsterdam-based club in the summer of 2022 from Nordsjaelland. Ten Hag was the one who brought the youngster to De Godenzonen.
However, under the current United head coach, the 22-year-old was mainly a bit-part player. In the previous two campaigns, he had been a backup at the Johan Cruyff Arena side.
But Kudus has taken the mantle at Ajax this season. He has made 36 appearances in all competitions for the Eredivisie giants, scoring 18 goals and providing five assists.
The 22-year-old also shone for the Black Stars in the 2022 World
Cup. He scored a brace against South Korea in the group stages. However, Ghana were unable to make it to the knockout rounds in Qatar.Ten Hag brought Antony to Manchester from Ajax in the summer of 2022. The Brazil international has had a mixed campaign so far at the Old Trafford side. However, the gaffer seems to trust the 23-year-old on the right wing.
