Premier League rivals Liverpool have Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder and Manchester United target Ruben Neves on their radar, according to The Sun.

The Red Devils have been chasing the signature of the Portugal international for a considerable time now. However, the Old Trafford side have not been able to acquire the 26-year-old’s services.

Now, the Anfield side are eyeing Neves. Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham is the Merseyside outfit’s primary target to bolster their engine room. However, if they are unable to get the England international, the Portuguese is an alternative option.

Jurgen Klopp’s team have two other players on their list. Fulham’s defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha and Wolves’ Matheus Nunes are midfielders they want to sign.

Liverpool have struggled to maintain their standards of the past few years in the current campaign. The Anfield side have struggled for consistency and the likes of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara have not been at their best.

Neves made his way to the Molineux Stadium side in the summer of 2017. After helping the West Midlands-based club get promoted to the English top flight, the 26-year-old has been a pivotal player for them.

The midfielder has made 32 appearances in all competitions for Wolves, scoring five goals. But the Portugal international’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024.

United bolstered their engine room last summer with the addition of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen to the ranks. However, the Red Devils seemingly lack quality in depth in the middle of the park, with the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay, and Donny van de Beek on the Old Trafford side’s books.
