Manchester United have ‘cooled’ interest in FC Porto forward Evanilson due to long-term injury
Manchester United have ‘cooled’ their interest in FC Porto star Evanilson after the forward picked up an injury which will keep him sidelined for some time, according to Correio da Manha (h/t Mirror).
The Brazil U23 international has suffered a knock to his knee, a long-term injury. As a result, the Red Devils are no longer interested in making a move for the 23-year-old.
In the summer of 2022, the Old Trafford side were considering lodging a bid worth £61 million to acquire the centre-forward’s services. However, it looks like the Manchester-based club have ruled out getting his signature.

Evanilson signed for the Dragoes in the summer of 2020 from Fluminense. The 23-year-old’s debut season saw him come off the bench on most occasions. However, in the previous campaign, the striker broke onto the scene.
In the 2021/22 season, the Brazilian made 46 appearances in all competitions for the Primeira Liga outfit. He found the back of the net 21 times and provided five assists.
Evanilson was going strong this term as well. Unfortunately, the injury has hampered the 23-year-old’s campaign. He was forced off against Gil Vicente in Porto’s 2-0 win in the Allianz Cup.
United’s forward line lost Cristiano Ronaldo just before the start of the 2022 World Cup. As a result, the Red Devils signed Wout Weghorst on loan this month from Burnley to provide support for Anthony Martial.
The France international has had his own fitness issues this season. He has not been available for Erik ten Hag on a consistent basis. Marcus Rashford has stepped up to the plate in the 27-year-olds absence and has led our line admirably.

Evanilson is a young and promising talent. However, with the injury, it remains to be seen how the striker does once he returns. For now, it is a wise decision by United to not pursue the Brazilian.
