Transfer News: Fabrizio Romano claims Manchester United have not bid for Evanilson

According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, contrary to popular opinion, Manchester United have not bid for Brazilian striker Evanilson from Porto.

Evanilson joined FC Porto from Tombense in 2020 and has since then gone on to become one of the best strikers in Liga Nos. His exploits in the Portuguese league has attracted the interest of elite clubs in Europe.

The 22-year-old talented striker has played 45 times for Sergio Conceicao’s side this season scoring 21 goals and providing five assists across all competitions. With a contract until 2025, Porto will not be willing to part ways with the player for cheap and will demand big money.

Manchester United have been linked with the talented Brazilian in the past week and there were claims that the Red Devils had submitted a bid for the player but all those rumours have been quashed by Fabrizio Romano.

For the future?

Although it has now emerged that Manchester United have not made any approach for Evanlison, he could be an option for us in the future.

United right now have Cristiano Ronaldo as their first choice target-man and the Portuguese superstar is set to continue in the role next season as things stand. Regardless, the former Real Madrid forward is 37 and could do with a young backup who can take over in the future.

At 22, Evanilson has a huge future ahead of him in football and if his performances in the Portuguese league are anything to go by, he can be the perfect future option for Manchester United once Cristiano Ronaldo leaves.

Signing a young forward from the Portuguese league and making him a world-class player is not a new thing for Manchester United and it would be fitting if Evalison replaces the aforementioned superstar at Old Trafford.

It remains to be seen how the Porto striker will play in the Premier League but if he manages to produce similar numbers, he will be a great option for United in the future.
