Erik ten Hag admits Manchester United are still in the transfer market for “right player” after Wout Weghorst deal
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has suggested that the club’s transfer business has not ended with the arrival of Wout Weghorst. The Red Devils could sign more players, but it has to be the “right” one.
In the ongoing transfer window, the Old Trafford side has seen two incomings, both on loan. Jack Butland arrived from Crystal Palace to add depth to the goalkeeping department, while Weghorst’s temporary move from Burnley has bolstered the forward line.
Speaking to the media via the Mirror, Ten Hag was happy with having captured the striker’s signature. However, the Dutch manager did not rule out more signings.
“With Wout, we have an extra player. In the balance of the squad, it’s what we need. I am happy with that, so if there are more opportunities we will be ready for that and looking for that, but it has to be once again the right player.”
United are currently flying high at the moment. We have won all of our fixtures since the season restarted after the 2022 World Cup. That has put us in a good position in all four competitions.
After Ten Hag’s shaky start in the Old Trafford side’s dugout, the gaffer has managed to turn things around admirably. The signings he made in the summer of 2022 have also been pivotal to our success.
Christina Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro have made a real difference for the Red Devils. However, compared to other top teams like Manchester City, we still lack quality in depth.
In the attack, Marcus Rashford has been one of our best players in the current campaign. The 25-year-old has shouldered most of the goalscoring burden in the team.
The England international has been pivotal considering Cristiano Ronaldo diminished role at United this season and his subsequent exit. Anthony Martial has also had fitness issues for the majority of his time under Ten Hag.

At the moment, the Old Trafford side seem to have enough quality in the starting lineup. The January transfer window usually does not present many opportunities in the market for world-class talent. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the club will add more players to its ranks this month.
