Barcelona join Manchester United in race for Juventus and France star Adrien Rabiot
La Liga giants Barcelona have joined Manchester United in the race for Juventus and France star Adrien Rabiot, according to Forbes (h/t Mirror).
The 27-year-old is keen on a move to the Blaugrana. They were interested in the midfielder’s signature before his move to Juventus in 2019. Xavi’s team are still eyeing the former Paris Saint-Germain superstar.
On the other hand, as per Calciomercato (h/t Mirror), Atletico Madrid are another side from Spain looking to sign Rabiot. Diego Simeone’s team are not in the best of forms this season.
Los Rojiblancos have the likes of Koke, Marcos Llorente, Axel Witsel, Saul Niguez and Geoffrey Kondogbia in their ranks. World Cup winner Rodrigo De Paul can also be called upon. Barcelona also have Sergio Busquets, Pedri, Gavi and Frenkie De Jong, amongst others, in the engine room.
Apart from the two La Liga sides, several top Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United, could also make a move for the France international. His current contract expires at the end of the season and an extension looks unlikely.
However, United are still in pursuit of the 27-year-old and are seen as favourites to land him. The Red Devils attempted to bring the midfielder to Manchester in the recent transfer window, but a deal failed to materialise.
Rabiot
has grown his stock after the 2022 World Cup. The 27-year-old’s performances in Qatar caught a lot of people’s attention. The midfielder was pivotal to Didier Deschamps’ team as they reached the final, only to lose to Argentina on penalties. The Old Trafford side signed Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in the summer of 2022. However, we could evidently still do with more quality on the bench.
