Manchester United join Chelsea and Liverpool in the race for Borussia Dortmund forward Youssoufa Moukoko
The race for Borussia Dortmund forward Youssoufa Moukoko is heating up as Manchester United have joined Chelsea and Liverpool in pursuit of the 18-year-old, according to The Times (Subscription Required) [h/t Metro].
The Germany international is in the final year of his contract at BVB. Thus, the Bundesliga giants will consider selling the forward in the upcoming transfer window to avoid losing him for free next summer.
Moukoko is being eyed by the Blues and the Stamford Bridge side are hopeful of securing a deal for him. However, the Red Devils and the Merseyside outfit are eyeing the 18-year-old’s signature as well.
But the German star is cautious about leaving Dortmund. The forward does not want to hinder his development. However, a move to a Premier League giant would seemingly be appealing to the youngster.
Chelsea recently lost Armando Broja after he picked up an injury that will see him miss the rest of the season. They now only have one centre-forward in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has been underwhelming for the Blues up until now.
Jurgen Klopp’s team have also had a lot of fitness issues in their squad. The likes of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have been sidelined for Liverpool in the current campaign. However, they still have enough firepower up front with Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino.
As for United, Cristiano Ronaldo departed the club just before the start of the World Cup. The 37-year-old’s departure has dwindled Erik ten Hag’s options up front.
The Dutch manager is now left with only one natural striker, Anthony Martial, in the squad. While Marcus Rashford has done well up front, the 25-year-old is a winger.

Thus, we evidently need to bolster our attack. However, while Moukoko has great talent, it would be wise for the Red Devils to go after a finished product rather than a prospect.
