Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko is not close to signing a new contract at the club amidst interest from Manchester United. The striker’s current contract expires in the summer of 2023. As a result, the Red Devils, along with Chelsea and Liverpool, are eyeing his signature.

Some reports from Germany suggested the 18-year-old was about to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Bundesliga outfit. However, those claims have been refuted.

Speaking to Sy Germany (h/t Metro), Patrick Williams, Moukoko’s agent, denied talks of the youngster agreeing to extend his stay at BVB. However, they are in conversations with the Bundesliga giants.

“I can confirm that we are not about to conclude a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund.

“I can also assure you that the numbers that are circulating are simply not correct and Youssoufa was never offered that much. But we are still in contact with Dortmund and will see what the next few days bring.”

Graham Potter recently took charge of the Blues after Thomas Tuchel’s sacking. However, it has not been easy for the English manager in the Stamford Bridge dugout. The West London side are keen on the Germany international after Armando Broja suffered a season-ending injury.

On the other hand, United are also monitoring the 18-year-old’s situation. Cristiano Ronaldo left the club just before the start of the 2022 World Cup. As a result, the Red Devils’ attacking options have diminished.

Anthony Martial is now the only natural striker at Erik ten Hag’s disposal. However, the 27-year-old has struggled with injuries in the current campaign.

As a result, the Dutch manager has had to play Marcus Rashford up top for the majority of the season. The 25-year-old has done relatively well for the Old Trafford side during a tough period.

Moukoko is an up-and-coming star. He has become a key player for Edin Terzic’s team this term. The 18-year-old was also a surprise inclusion in Hansi Flick’s 2022 World Cup squad.

The youngster has shown immense potential at Dortmund. However, right now, United seemingly need a proven striker who can make an immediate impact. Thus, the Red Devils should revisit Moukoko’s transfer in the future.
