Transfer News: West Ham United and Everton join Manchester United in pursuit of Jhon Duran

West Ham United and Everton have joined Manchester United in the pursuit of Chicago Fire striker Jhon Duran, according to The Sun. Liverpool are also interested in the 18-year-old.

The striker has been a hit in the MLS with the Colombian international scoring eight goals and registering another six assists in 30 appearances for his club in all competitions.

It was earlier reported that the associates of manager Erik ten Hag had already been in contact with the player for a potential move. The striker also has interest from Spain.

United need a natural striker. Cristiano Ronaldo saw his contract terminated last week, while Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are the only two players who can lead the line.

Martial has struggled for fitness, leaving Rashford as the sole forward who can play as a striker. Both the players are make-shift strikers, and actually seem to fare better in their natural positions on the wings.

Should Duran be signed, it will be surprising to see him become a first-team player. But the 18-year-old has immense potential and that is something United can help him bring out by providing him the necessary facilities and guidance.

We need to think about the future too and Duran is one for that. With that in mind, the Red Devils should also focus on the present and try to get in a world-class striker to lead Ten Hag’s front line for the second half of the season.

A host of clubs are showing interest in the striker, further highlighting his potential. It will be wise for the Red Devils to up their game and get ahead of their rivals for the 18-year-old’s signature.

That being said, it won’t be the end of the world if we miss out on him. Then, we can focus our attention towards signing someone who can deliver from the get-go rather than being a prospect for the future.
